Terms of Use
Important limitations for using this independent recycling-information platform.Updated September 30, 2026.
This platform supports public education, research and policy discussion. It does not replace official sources or advice from an appropriately qualified professional.
Independent information resource
Recycling Policy & Industry is an independent, non-governmental educational and public-information platform. It is not CalRecycle, another government agency, a law firm, an accounting firm, an engineering firm or a professional advisory service. No government agency, third-party organization or linked source endorses this website unless that endorsement is expressly documented.
Information and automated or AI-assisted tools
Information, summaries, search results and automated or AI-assisted features may contain errors, omissions, outdated information, incomplete context or incorrect interpretations. Automated matching may select a related record that does not answer every part of a visitor’s question. Although reasonable efforts are made to use authoritative sources, label information types and display review dates, the website does not guarantee accuracy, completeness, timeliness, availability or applicability to a particular person, facility, transaction or situation.
Automated results should be treated as research starting points—not final determinations. Visitors must open and review the linked primary source. Official statutes, regulations, court orders, agency records, program instructions, permits, contracts and other controlling documents take precedence over every website summary or automated result.
No professional advice or professional relationship
Nothing on this website constitutes legal, regulatory, financial, accounting, tax, engineering, environmental, investment, employment, insurance, cybersecurity or other professional advice. Use of the website, submission of a question, survey response, recommendation or email, and receipt of an automated result do not create an attorney-client, consultant-client, fiduciary, confidential or other professional relationship with the website, its publisher, owner, officers, directors, employees, staff, contractors, contributors, partners or affiliates.
Before making a legal, compliance, financial, operational, employment, permitting, investment or other important decision, visitors should consult the responsible government agency and an appropriately licensed or qualified professional who can evaluate their specific facts.
Analysis, opinions and recommendations
Industry analysis, commentary, future concepts and policy recommendations represent general independent viewpoints or proposals. They are separated from official requirements and do not constitute current law, an agency determination, an official endorsement or individualized advice. Publication does not guarantee adoption, approval, funding, certification, permitting or a particular policy outcome.
Verify before acting
Laws, regulations, program guidance, facility status, business information, deadlines, payment rates and operating conditions can change without immediate notice. Visitors are responsible for confirming controlling requirements, current dates, eligibility and applicability before acting. Facility and directory records do not guarantee that a location is open, accepting a particular material or available at the time of a visit.
No warranty
The website and its content are provided on an “as available” and general-information basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the website disclaims warranties concerning accuracy, completeness, timeliness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, uninterrupted availability and noninfringement. The platform does not guarantee permits, certifications, grants, payments, legislative outcomes, compliance results, facility availability, technology performance or the completeness of third-party information.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Recycling Policy & Industry and its publisher, owner, officers, directors, employees, staff, contractors, contributors, partners and affiliates are not liable for losses or damages arising from access to, use of, inability to use or reliance upon this website, its content, automated or AI-assisted results, user submissions, third-party information or external links. This includes, without limitation, lost revenue, lost opportunity, business interruption, compliance consequences, application or permitting decisions, payment decisions, operational decisions and loss of data.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any responsibility, remedy or legal right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. These Terms do not excuse fraud, willful misconduct or violation of applicable law.
External links and third-party information
Links and third-party records are provided for convenience, research and verification. The platform does not control external websites; endorse every linked statement; or guarantee external accuracy, security, accessibility, availability or future content. Third-party materials remain subject to their publishers’ terms and rights.
Corrections and updates
Visitors who identify a possible error, broken link or outdated statement should use the Corrections page. A correction request does not establish that the challenged statement is incorrect. The platform may review, update, clarify, archive or retain content under its documented editorial standards.
Survey and public submissions
Survey respondents and contributors must provide truthful information to the best of their knowledge, avoid confidential or sensitive personal information, and distinguish observation from allegation or opinion. Submissions are independent public input—not formal complaints, adjudicated findings, government records or endorsements. They may be reviewed, summarized, excluded or archived under the platform’s editorial judgment.
Acceptable use
Visitors may not misuse the website; interfere with its security or operation; falsely imply endorsement; impersonate another person or agency; submit knowingly false or unlawful material; or use the platform to facilitate threats, harassment, violence, discrimination, fraud, unlawful surveillance or other illegal activity.
Copyright and permission
Public access permits viewing—not ownership or unrestricted reuse. Original text, policy publications, graphics, concept images, designs and downloadable materials may not be copied, distributed, republished, modified, cropped, sold, used commercially or used to train automated systems without prior written permission from Karim Ameri, except where applicable law expressly permits limited use.
Open-source software and workshop contributions
The separately identified Open Policy Workshop software release is governed by its MIT License, which takes precedence over general website restrictions for those files. Workshop submissions are governed by the contribution and review guidelines. New contributions are reviewed before public display; publication does not establish an official government finding or endorsement.
Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated as the website, its technology, services and legal obligations develop. The updated date will be displayed on this page. Continued use after publication of a change is subject to the revised Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.
